ABOUT ME
Hi, I'm Keonna!

I am Delaware
I was raised here from birth, shaped by the soil of these streets and the neighbors who showed up for each other when the systems didn't. My home was on Lambson Lane and in Holloway Terrace, where my parents were the first Black couple to buy a home in the Rosegate community in the 1960s. They faced the challenges of being the only Black family in the neighborhood for years, but they stayed, built a life, and taught me the true meaning of community.
My commitment to service is a legacy. I carry the blueprint of my maternal great-great-grandparents, who migrated here from Antigua and Trinidad before 1915 to give their children a better life. I also carry the lessons of my "Pops," a small business owner and a proud member of UAW Local 435 who worked at General Motors for 37 years. He taught me that politics is about service to the people. We spent our evenings watching PoliticsNation and discussing the real-world issues facing our neighbors, laying the foundation for my life’s work.
I don’t just fight for this community—I am this community. As a Black and Brown woman, a mother, a member of the LGBTQ+ community, and someone living with a disability, I carry these identities with me every day. I know what it’s like to be a young single mother trying to keep going when the road is hard. That experience taught me the empathy and resilience that I bring to every community meeting and every door I knock on.
I earned my Doctorate in Prevention Science not to distance myself from my community, but to bring more tools back to it. With a background in Allied Health, Family Science, and Prevention Science, I understand how to use evidence-based strategies to address health equity and housing instability holistically. I’m running for State Senate because you deserve a leader who doesn’t need a translator to understand your life. I’ve lived the challenges we face, and I’m ready to fight for all of us.
My Policy Platform
For State Senate District 12
Affordable Housing
I believe a stable home is the foundation for health, education, and opportunity. As someone who has felt the instability of housing being out of reach, I will:
-
Fight to expand affordable housing options across Senate District 12.
-
Cut through the red tape that keeps working families locked out of the market.
-
Ensure that development in our communities works for the people who already live here, not just those who can afford to move in.
Affordable and Equitable Healthcare
Access to healthcare is a right, not a privilege. My professional training and my experience living with a disability have taught me that our systems must be more proactive. I will:
-
Advocate fiercely for expanded preventative and reproductive care.
-
Implement evidence-based strategies that lower costs by addressing health risks before they worsen.
-
Ensure that every resident can see a doctor and make informed decisions about their own body, regardless of their income or zip code.
Community Safety and Rights Protection
Safety means something different depending on where you come from, and I take the protection of our rights seriously. I will:
-
Work to build safety strategies rooted in trust, transparency, and genuine protection for all residents.
-
Protect the dignity of our migrant neighbors so they can live without fear.
-
Champion systems that help rather than harm the communities they are meant to serve.
Ending Food Insecurity
No family in Delaware should have to wonder where their next meal is coming from. It is a quiet crisis that I am committed to ending. I will:
-
Champion policies that expand access to fresh, nutritious food and strengthen local food networks.
-
Address the underlying economic conditions that make hunger a daily reality for too many of our neighbors.
